For many years Hans Følsgaard A/S has been supplying the market with single-mode fibre optic cables. Through new alliances and subcontracting arrangements, Følsgaard is now able to support the market’s needs for complete fibre optic submarine cable solutions in infinite lengths
In the ever expanding high-speed data infrastructure a number of parameters is in constant focus: The amounts of data being streamed by the consumers puts new emphasis on the need for increased capacity and data transmission speeds in the networks. At the same time consumers are hard to please, if interrupts in the data transmission is a regular occurrence, which is why QoS (quality of service) from the network operators and – suppliers should function with a 100 percent consistency. But – as ever – will the consumers pay for these qualities and the higher bandwidth? No, not very likely, is it? So, the final parameter in the equation – price – should also be considered.
Hans Følsgaard A/S has a long established relationship with more Chinese manufacturers of fibre optic components as well as copper-/submarine cables. The Chinese manufacturers have no particular interest in dumping the prices on the market, as they like to make money as well. However, the Chinese companies are often of an enormous size. Also more of these companies already own a number of the tools and equipment – which in itself makes for the most expensive individual part of the fibre optic- and cable infrastructure. That is: The cable laying facilities. With Chinese wages in mind, at the end of the day the more expensive part of the task can turn out to be rather price efficient. And when it comes to the product quality, the Chinese manufacturers have been on top of that for quite some time now.
Recently Hans Følsgaard A/S’ fibre optic production has teamed up with a substantial colleague in the PRC within the copper-/submarine cable segment. This has established a method of laying communications- and power cables which is now seriously competitive which ever amount or length we’re talking about.
The Chinese suppliers in question have a mutual background in the Prysmian-organisation, and due to their impressive span of technologies and services they’ve become a rising – and shining - star in the fibre optic and copper/submarine manufacturing and cable laying businesses. In total it’s an alliance that pretty difficult to beat.
The products and services that are now available through Hans Følsgaard A/S are:
- Copper-/submarine cables at voltages up to 750kV.
- Fibre optic cable systems in literally infinite lengths – for submarine use and including repeaters and accessories.
- Proprietary submarine cable laying ships – making the cable laying very competitive pricewise.
- Integrated and customer specific fibre optic- and copper solutions.
- Submarine cable laying to depths of down to 8 kilometres.
- Test labs for all types of products – also including VDE-certification.
