Følsgaard presented a new, innovative product at Intermodal 2022
A basic principle in product development is to listen to the customer's needs. The new HF Cable Coiler has been developed by engineers in Hans Følsgaard's own container department, based on information and cooperation with players in the industry.
The HF Cable Coiler, which Hans Følsgaard has just shown at Intermodal 2022, is designed to coil cables from stacked reefer containers during loading and unloading of container vessels. Telescopic design allows for retrieval of cables up to 4 tiers. The carbon fiber construction provides strength and prevents the product from becoming heavy and difficult to operate.
The challenge that sparked product development was that reefer container cables often hang loosely from the container and were not stored in the cable tray. Crew on board ships tend to only properly store the cable from the lower container, and simply tie a knot on the upper container cables. This means that all the above cables hang loosely down the side of the reefer containers.
With cables hanging, several inconveniences or risks can arise when the containers are moved. Damaged cables if they get pinched, personal injury due to swaying connectors, and potentially damaged goods if the container gets stuck and swings unevenly.
With the development of the HF Cable Coiler, Følsgaard has helped to increase safety and productivity, reduce cable repair costs and create better work flow when handling reefer containers.
